USA Today is reporting that actress Lindsay Lohan has been released from a rehab facility at UCLA Medical Center. She had been ordered by Judge Marsha Revel to the inpatient facility for three months. Will curtailing Lindsay Lohan's rehab stay ultimately help or hurt the troubled star? Lindsay Lohan Released from Rehab: Hearing to Decide Next Step for Lohan According to ABC News, Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, the new judge in the case Elden S. Fox and prosecutors will meet in court on Wednesday to decide the fate of the star. Lohan is not required, or expected, to attend the hearing. While it's likely her probation and random drug and alcohol testing will continue, what price will Lohan pay for discontinuing her inpatient rehab? Lindsay Lohan Released from Rehab: Another Chance for Lohan...Again It seems that Lohan, 24, like many other Hollywood stars, gets chance after chance when it comes to brushes with the law. Lohan's recent 14 say jail stint and rehab trip were the result of her seemingly blatant disregard for the law. Lohan, on probation for a 2007 drug arrest, missed seven judge ordered alcohol education classes since December and numerous required court appearances. Meanwhile, Lohan was photographed at star studded Hollywood events across the globe. Did Lohan think she was untouchable and above the law? It seems she may have had good reason to feel this way. Many close to Lohan have made continued excuses for her, blaming her repeated drug and alcohol problems on media distortions. Before Judge Revel, no one seemed to call Lohan out for her bad choices. In interviews, Dina Lohan stated that her daughter was not an addict: The pants with the cocaine in the pocket were borrowed by a friend who put the drugs there, the reckless driving was the result of paparazzi chasing the star, and so on. Lindsay Lohan Released from Rehab: Those Close to Lohan Continue to Make Excuses Many, including Lohan's mother Dina would like to think the star will stay clean and sober. But, Lohan has relapsed so many times, that outcome seems unlikely without the support of an intense and strict treatment program. While the agenda of Wednesday's hearing was not announced, Los Angeles county district attorney's spokeswoman Jane Robison publicly stated that prosecutors were ready to follow recommendations from Lohan's rehab doctors. However, as recently reported by TMZ, Lohan's doctors at UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital have stated that they feel Judge Marsha Revel overreacted in her sentence of 90 days of inpatient rehab for Lohan. They released her after just 23 days of treatment stating she was ready to continue on an outpatient basis. Many believe that the Judge Revel's sentence, though harsh, may have saved Lohan's life. Lindsay Lohan Released from Rehab: Time for Tough Love from Dina The NY Post is reporting that upon her release from rehab, Lohan immediately called her mother. Although Dina Lohan has good intentions for her daughter, one has to wonder when Dina will take her blinders off and realize her daughter needs help. Lohan has repeatedly made bad choices, including recently appearing topless for German GQ. Lohan has failed many times before to get clean. She has had more chances than most non-celebrities would ever get, given her arrest record and history. And yet, her mother seems to believe that the world is out to get her daughter. Clearly, no one is out to get Lohan. She has finally been called on to pay the piper. In an interview with the Today show, Dina said that Lohan plans to move to New York after rehab. While a change of scenery may help Lohan beat her addictions, ultimately she needs continued treatment. Attending fabulous parties, Hollywood premieres and frequenting nightclubs will only serve to tempt Lohan into relapse. Lohan needs tough love from her mother. Dina needs to stop trying to be her daughter's friend and start being her mother. It's not easy, as any mother of an addict will tell you. But to keep making excuses hasn't helped Lohan so far and certainly won't in the future. Lindsay Lohan Released from Rehab: Will Lohan End Up Like Other Tragic Stars? Hopefully, this time Lohan will get her act together and live a clean and sober life. However, you can't simply run away from your demons, you must face and conquer them. Is running away to New York really the best move for Lohan at this critical time in her recovery? Many fear that Lohan may end up like other stars who were undone by drugs and alcohol. Corey Haim, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson and Anna Nicole Smith all died before their time due to drugs. Hopefully, the court will require Lohan to continue her treatment. Otherwise, we may be reading about Lohan under a more tragic headline. |
